AP – If Rahm Emanuel decides to run for Chicago mayor, the White House chief of staff would easily be the best-known figure in the race, with national name recognition that few others could match and invaluable experience from helping engineer the Democrats’ takeover of the House in 2006.

If it’s a day ending in “y,” that means there is more trouble for Brit-Brit . Ex-bodyguard Fernando Flores filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the pop tart yesterday. Even though we knew some of the accusations previously — she walked around the house naked; she asked for his belt to spank her kids — now he is spilling all the beans. And they’re some dirty, dirty beans.

I am almost too tired to write. It is only 8 PM, but I’ve been kicking around ideas of heading to bed early. Last night, Fiona and I camped out in the backyard of one of Fiona’s friends. It was a wonderful time and I posted a picture of the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich preparations over the campfire this morning. In the afternoon, we all went over to the club for a swim. They have an outdoor pool that will be closing next weekend. Several friends showed up and we had some nice long chats poolside. Back at the house, Fiona and I did her weekly radio show. We were both pretty tired, so it may not have been the best show. This was further complicated by Fiona’s calls constantly getting dropped. This is about the third episode where this has been a problem, and we’ve filed a problem report with BlogTalkRadio. We shall see what they find. We still need to bake the cake for Kim’s birthday. I think it will be best to wait until the morning to do this. I’m just too tired to be able to concentrate properly on making a cake this evening. I am hoping that Fiona will want to help, but she may want to rush over to her papa and nana’s house since her cousin’s are visiting. It is getting close to cider making season again, and I’ve been learning more about aging hard cider and thinking about what I’ll try to do this year. I hope to have a blog post up soon about this. Also, Kim got a Nook for her birthday. I’ve been spending time looking more closely at the nook, as well as using the N900 as an ereader and various sources for ebooks online. This is another blog post that I hope to get up soon. I never did get my first of the month blog post up, so that remains in the queue and I also need to think about my music monday post for Labor day, a couple days after the notification date for my SonicBids request. Yet all of these will have to wait until I am better rested. I hope readers from the States are having a great three day weekend. More soon…

I thought I might be a little whimsical today, so I discovered a few photos lurking in my files that I would like to share. There is a nursery here called Franz Witte and let’s just say, they have a great sense of humor. Their nursery is located on the side of a major road and every holiday, to the delight of motorists, they arrange and sometimes dress-up a vast army of their pink mascots. Now, that is not to say that they only come out on special occasions, because you can find them on their front lawn and hidden throughout the nursery, peaking-out at you from behind bushes, every day of the year. And yes, we have four of them at our house as well. We have two standing guard by our front door and two more hidden amongst the bushes. Here they are arranged in the shape of a heart and wrapped in a red ribbon… Wearing bunny ears (I think for Easter)… photos courtesy of… Franz Witte

It was really dark and I was feeling alone. Everyone had gone to bed; some were snoring. There was no noise and sound outside except for the rain and cold. Occasionally I saw flashes of lightning and heard thunder. It would be raining and cold throughout the night, I told myself. Looking around at my house, sometimes I did feel it was too big. It was a double storey terrace house for the 5 of us. Now 2 have proceeded to further their studies, the house looks rather empty……. Sometimes I just sit down and look around, not knowing what to do. Some motivations and positive feelings may help, I told myself, or some walking exercises and outdoor activities to fill the time. Oh! How I miss gardening, now that the backyard is cemented. Yes, a family meal together somewhere will be nice; we just need to confide to one another sometimes. But at the end of the day when the lights are off, again we can feel the loneliness. Yes, absence does make the heart grow fonder……. Oh! How I miss my children. ******* Alone in the dark is never pleasant. And who really like the dark of night? And sleepless night in the dark, and that was what I was. But there is always the Almighty God to confide, I told myself. Dark is not dark after all; the night can be as bright as day. ****** But loneliness is dark and cold. Sometimes people just don’t understand it. But when the dark is gone, the day will come, I told myself and dozed to sleep.
