Greener Environment

Posted by admin on Wednesday, 18 August, 2010

These days we are beset by man-made pollution. If we try to look at some of the rivers, lakes, oceans instead of green life thriving the underwater situation has become rampant. Human waste, animals and factory wastes flow and settle in them. This situation is not healthy to our eyes and to our heath. In some urban places we can see the atmosphere blackening with smog. This is one caused of the fuel fumes from different factories, smoke belching from motor vehicles and in some other places the burning of waste materials as the keys of dumping garbage it is not really good to our environment. Environmental pollution is caused to some extent by the advancement of science and technology. But this all problems will not minimize if we have a proper disposal of waste in factories and each and every one of us be strictly observed. If all vehicle users will take some precautionary measures in order to prevent smoke belching and if waste materials would be recycled instead of burning maybe we can help our environment free from pollution. This situation can be observed seriously if our government would implement laws and regulations or anti-pollution with heavy hands. The only solution in saving our Mother Earth is greening our environment healthy lives. Diseases of all sorts would infect people and in the long run it will kill them and even our plants would suffer great damages. Therefore the fauna and flora of life would be aversively affected. The worst consequence is the ecological imbalance. But if nothing is done to combat the situation, our mother Earth would suffer an undefinable disaster and it might lead to its end. We won’t this to happen let us help one another to save our mother Earth and if possible be the good model in reaching our environment a greener one and a pollution free environment.

Peace Like A River

Posted by admin on Wednesday, 28 July, 2010

It was late afternoon when my son emails me regarding his problems. These are problems related to his study, his college, and some relationship issues. I studied through the problems, analyzed them, and offered him some tips and advice; I am concerned and worried that negativity and fear may bog him down. It isn’t easy for a young man to deal and resolve problems on his own; he may easily be overwhelmed and frustrated. My suggestion to him is to be single-minded and single-hearted in his pursuit. Every problem, big or small, needs to be laid out, scrutinize, analyze, attempt, and solve. It isn’t easy, but becomes easier with time and practice. But there are problems that are impossible to define objectively and accurately, and difficult to interpret and solve. What we have to do is to have an overview of the situation, seeing things from a wider and deeper perspective, and not too eager and hasty in solving and mitigating the problems. Some problems are best left with God; only Him can and will make them clear to us and teach us what to do next. I sympathize with my son but I can’t solve many of his problems. I can only tell him how I solve many of my similar problems. My heart cries and yearns to help but he has to tackle things on his own. I can only watch from afar everything that happens. It isn’t easy and isn’t easier for him. If only we have peace like a river in our soul…….

By Gretchen Rubin, The Happiness Project via DivineCaroline A few days ago, I was extremely upset. CT Department of Agriculture Places New Britain Animal Shelter Under Quarantine

Posted by admin on Tuesday, 15 June, 2010

Monday, the Connecticut Department of Agriculture placed the New Britain Animal shelter under quarantine after several dogs were tested positive with canine parvovirus, commonly known as parvo. Parvo is a contagious virus with a very high mortality rate for untreated dogs. According to reports, parvo has been in the New Britain Animal Shelter since at least May 20th. Most dogs are vaccinated against parvo, but dogs that run wild or are not properly cared for by veterinarians can contract and spread parvo. At times, parvo can be a major problem in larger cities and animal control officers may impound dogs with parvo. Normally, a shelter contacts the Department of Agriculture when a case of parvo is detected and the department quarantines the shelter for two weeks. Based on initial reports, the parvo outbreak was over two weeks ago which would mean that the department would not place the shelter under quarantine. However, subsequent reports indicated that as recently as June 7th, a dog was diagnosed with parvo and put to sleep. When the Department of Agriculture learned of the continued problem they promptly addressed the situation placing the New Britain Animal Shelter under quarantine. As with other requests about animal safety, requests for comment from New Britain Mayor Tim Stewart about the parvo outbreak were not returned. While parvo is not a threat to people who have mature dogs that have been vaccinated for parvo, it can be a threat to young puppies that are not old enough to be vaccinated. Residents of New Britain are urged to make sure that their dogs have been properly vaccinated and to keep young puppies that are not old enough to be vaccinated in doors. Fortunately, parvo is not a zoonotic disease that is a threat to humans. Yet as zoonotic diseases become more common, such as H1N1, concerns about how well prepared our state is to address animal borne illnesses becomes more important. When the Department of Agriculture learned of the outbreak, they handled the situation efficiently. However, there are concerns about why the Department of Agriculture was not notified, and why Mayor Stewart fails to address public safety issues.

The Other Face of Success

Posted by admin on Tuesday, 8 June, 2010

Success is not safe. If we do our job well, our peers resent us. If we are promoted, our fellow workers or office mates sometimes get mad at us. If we’re talented, hardworking and honest we become successful, but some of our friends are envy of us and may want to stab us in our back. This situation starts in our early age. Brothers and sisters compete with each other. If our parents price one of their children for a special accomplishment, do some or the other kids rejoice? Perhaps they do once in a while but more often our brothers or sisters often feel envious. They want to make themselves look better than other siblings by trying to look better than the others. Yes, this often happen to some of the families especially if they have their brothers and sisters with them and this cannot be avoided sometimes. I wish I could say that when we outgrow this envy as we get older, but all too often it gets worse. In office or any other business establishments of every kind success is not safe. If we will work hard and are extremely productive, others feel they look bad and they don’t like it. The greater the achievements we have the nastier the attacks. So, how do we deal for and how we can aim for excellence if there people who are doing such thing to us? A far better response though is to aim excellence and so the right things, no matter how other people react. Be the kind of person we are that God wants us to be. This is the best way to go, the only way to a true success, but it won’t be easy. Life in the work place can be hard, hurtful and downright scary sometimes. Some people may resent us and try to bring us down. In fact, we might be safer in a den of lions than in a workplace or with people that has full of envious rivals.

Kindness Revolution Day 5: I Failed Miserably Today!

Posted by admin on Friday, 4 June, 2010

I must confess that day 5 of my Kindness Revolution hasn’t gone so well.  I got into an argument with someone I love and let’s just say that some not-so-kind words were exchanged.  Once I regained some clarity and distance from the situation, I felt nothing but sadness over the whole thing…particularly that I’m trying hard to be kind and give gifts, …

U.S. experiences severe allergy season

Posted by admin on Saturday, 10 April, 2010

It seems that many places in the U.S. (most especially in the Southeast) are experiencing an unusually severe allergy season this year. Dr. Mona Mangat, an allergy specialist working at a hospital in Florida, commented recently on the severity of the situation by saying, “We’re just overwhelmed with patients right now. We’re double- and triple-booked with new patients, trying to work people in because we know how much people are suffering.” It is speculated that the reason for this year’s increased severity in allergy breakouts is due to an unusually cold spring coupled with high winds. In the southeast, these high winds have helped to spread pollen from oak trees, which are also thought to be one of the main perpetrators of the new allergy epidemic. Apparently the trees can produce as much as 6000 pollen particles per cubic meter, whereas only 10 particles can cause an allergic reaction. Drug Problems are Quite Alarming

Posted by admin on Wednesday, 31 March, 2010

In our society today drug problems has reach to alarming proportions. We must know this all along especially if we have children who are teenagers or even big people are indulging to this kind of activities. This is not a good practice to our children, if we the parents know that our children are doing this kind of addiction, maybe we will try to give an action for this so that this kind of situation will not be worse. We the parents, plays a vital role to our children. Sometimes parents are taking for granted of the whereabouts of their children and this is not a good practice especially these days that drug addiction is very rampant and sometimes we cannot control the situation. So if we notice that our children are always going out for nothing and with their circle of friends maybe we will try to investigate and give more attention to them. In the average of the drug users now more than half of suspected drug traffickers are arrested, charge in court and acquitted. So for us parents we will not for our children to be in prison or to be rehab, if possible during their early stage or if we know that they are using such kind of drugs maybe we will try to talk to them heart to heart and maybe they will listen and aware those bad activities. Drug addiction is one of the factors that are causing a rise in the rate of criminality. People under the influence of drugs are give confidence to commit crimes. If they are taking drugs they can easily commit crimes like rape, murder, massacres and many other animalistic moves that only drug addict can do. Something to be done to curb drug trafficking and addiction, one way to solve the drug problem is to strike literally and figuratively at its roots. But sometimes our government have a hard time to do this activities, so we better try to guard our children so that they cannot enter into a bad doings that is rampant to teens now a days. We all believe that prevention is better than cure.
